Medicare Basics

Cigna Medicare Insurance Plans

Cigna is the result of a 1982 merger between two companies: INA Corporation, which dates back to 1792, and Connecticut General Life Insurance Company, founded in 1865. Today, Cigna offers a wide range of Medicare plans, including Part C (Medicare Advantage), Part D (prescription drug coverage) and Medicare Supplement (Medigap).

Cigna Medicare Advantage Plans

As with all private Medicare providers, Cigna's Medicare Advantage (MA) plans vary according to where you live. Possible options include:

  • HMO plans
  • HMO-POS plans
  • PPO plans
  • Regional PPO plans
  • Local PPO plans
  • Private fee-for-service (PFFS) plans
  • Dual special needs plans
  • Cost plans
  • Medical savings account (MSA) plans

Many Cigna MA plans offer additional benefits and most offer prescription drug coverage. Plan options, costs, and additional benefits vary according to the plan you choose and where you live.

The licensed agents at MedicareUSA can help you understand the Cigna Medicare Advantage plan options in your area.

Cigna Medicare Part D Plans

If you prefer to stay with Original Medicare, Cigna also offers standalone Medicare Part D (prescription drug) plans. Monthly premiums and yearly deductibles vary according to your state and the plan you choose.

Cigna Medicare Supplement Plans

Cigna also offers Medicare Supplement Plans (Medigap). These plans help enrollees pay certain out-of-pocket costs (coverage varies depending on which Medigap plan you choose).
